A 22-year-old caretaker, Sam Sesay, has been remanded in custody after appearing before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Pademba Road Court No. 2.
Sesay is charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and larceny under the Larceny Act of 1916.
The charges relate to an incident on August 20, 2024, when Sesay allegedly conspired with unknown persons to steal NLe 150,000 from his employer, Joan Keister, CEO of the Cotton Tree Foundation.
Keister had left Sesay in charge of her home and the safe containing the money while she traveled to the UK. Upon her return, she discovered the money and the key to the closet were missing.

Sesay denied involvement but later admitted to giving Le 5,000 from the missing money to his younger brother, who refused it.
Despite his plea of not guilty and lack of legal representation, Magistrate Bangura denied bail, citing the seriousness of the charges.
The case has been adjourned to September 6, 2024.
