A carpenter, Mohamed Bangura, popularly known as “Bone,” has been remanded in custody after making his first court appearance on charges of housebreaking, larceny, and malicious damage connected to an alleged break-in at a residence in Freetown.
Bangura appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at the Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. He was charged on two counts: housebreaking and larceny, and malicious damage.
According to the police indictment, the accused is alleged to have broken and entered the residence of Alhaji Kabba at No. 57 Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown, on Friday, December 5, 2025, with the intent to steal. The prosecution claims that Bangura stole a Home Theatre Deck valued at £850 (approximately NLe 26,350), a DSTV receiver worth NLe 2,500, and a stabilizer valued at NLe 3,000, bringing the total value of the alleged stolen items to NLe 31,850.
The items were said to have been in the custody of Babatunde Samuel Kamara at the time of the alleged offence.
In a further count, police allege that on the same date and at the same location, Bangura maliciously damaged a 65-inch LG plasma television valued at NLe 51,150.
When the charges were read and explained to him, the accused did not enter a plea, as the matter is still at the preliminary investigation stage. Bangura appeared in court without legal representation and informed the court that he had no questions for the prosecution witnesses.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Wilson, applied for a subpoena to be issued for both the Exhibit Officer and the Investigating Officer to testify before the court. After listening to submissions from the prosecution, Magistrate Fornah ordered that Bangura be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
The matter has been adjourned to January 27, 2026, for further proceedings
