The Regional Coordinator South of the Complaints Discipline and Internal Investigation Department (CDIID), Superintendent Abdulai D. Bangura held a meeting with his unit personnel on Sunday, March 10th, 2024, to unveil plans aimed at enhancing the unit’s efficiency.
Superintendent Bangura discussed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) William Fayia Sellu’s strategies to bolster the CDIID’s capabilities for improved service delivery.
During the meeting, Superintendent Bangura emphasized the importance of adhering to rules, ethical conduct, and professional standards within the police force. He highlighted the CDIID’s role in upholding discipline and setting a positive example for others.
Superintendent Bangura also revealed that IGP Sellu expressed gratitude for the support from the south during his tenure, motivating him to surprise the CDIID unit with a special recognition or reward. This unexpected gesture is expected to boost morale and motivation within the CDIID unit in the South, acknowledging their dedication to maintaining order and upholding police force values.
Inspector Gbessay K. Kamara, the admin officer CDIID at the Regional Headquarters South, further elaborated on plans to launch disciplinary operations targeting misconduct and ensuring accountability among officers. He emphasized that such initiatives are essential for maintaining professionalism and upholding the rule of law within the police force.
Notable thematic areas discussed during the meeting included improper dressing by traffic police officers, handling of diaries, use of name tags, management of detention facilities, and handling of case and inquiry files. It was underscored that officers found engaging in unlawful behavior or violating ethical standards will face disciplinary action to preserve the integrity of the Police force.
A notable point of discussion was the implementation of withholding rice supply and salaries as part of the suspension process, as endorsed by the Inspector General of Police.
