Children of the Nations (COTN), a Christian non-governmental organisation dedicated to the holistic care of orphaned and vulnerable children, continues to make a significant impact at its operational site in Upper Banta, Ngolala Junction, Moyamba District.
The organisation, which has operated in Sierra Leone for several years, aims to raise children who will contribute positively to national development. Its programmes include educational support, healthcare services, nutrition, spiritual mentorship, and community partnership initiatives.
At its Ngolala Junction centre in Upper Banta Chiefdom, COTN runs long-standing programmes that support both children living in its residential homes and those within surrounding communities. These services include medical care, school sponsorship, and community outreach activities designed to promote health, education, and emotional wellbeing.
Recent developments at the Moyamba site include strengthened collaboration with local caregivers and village authorities to expand the organisation’s Village Partnership Programme. The initiative supports families caring for vulnerable children who remain in their communities but lack access to essential resources.
Residents of Upper Banta say the organisation’s presence has contributed to improved child health awareness and increased school attendance, outcomes they attribute to COTN’s regular health education sessions and ongoing support provided by its clinical staff.
“We are grateful for the presence of Children of the Nations in our area,” said community leader Mark Luseni. “Their work has brought hope, health education, and opportunities for our young people.”
COTN says its approach focuses not only on meeting immediate needs but also on equipping children with the skills and confidence required to pursue further education and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Headquartered in Marjay Town, Freetown, COTN–Sierra Leone continues to recruit qualified personnel in healthcare and social services to support operations at Ngolala Junction, further strengthening its capacity to serve children and families in Upper Banta.
