This morning, Abdul Fatoma, Chief Executive of the Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHRDI), met with Chernor Bah, the Minister of Information and Civic Education, to discuss the status of the data protection bill.
The meeting centered on the importance of data protection rights and the economic benefits they bring to Sierra Leone.
During the discussion, Fatoma emphasized CHRDI’s ongoing advocacy campaign aimed at raising awareness about the necessity of data protection. He highlighted how safeguarding personal data is crucial in the digital age, especially for women and girls who are often vulnerable to data breaches.
Minister Bah acknowledged the significance of the bill, particularly in protecting the data of women and girls. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the enactment of the bill to enhance data security for all citizens.
