The Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHRDI) has been recognized for its efforts in promoting access to justice in Sierra Leone during the Africa and Middle East regional meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.

CHRDI’s Chief Executive, Abdul M. Fatoma, is currently attending the meeting, which brings together government officials, local councils, and civil society leaders to discuss critical issues such as democracy, access to justice, transparency, and accountability.

The recognition comes after CHRDI’s partnership with the Office of the Ombudsman in Sierra Leone, where they worked to improve justice access through an Open Government Challenge submitted via the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Unit. Their work has been acknowledged with a certificate of recognition, highlighting their commitment to governance reforms.

As part of their ongoing efforts, CHRDI is also advocating for the revision of the 1997 Ombudsman Act to strengthen public administrative justice in Sierra Leone. This reform aims to enhance citizens’ ability to seek redress and hold public institutions accountable.

CHRDI expressed gratitude to OGP for its support in these initiatives, reaffirming its dedication to driving positive change through collaboration and policy reform.
