The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has apprehended three suspects, including a woman named Adamsay, in connection with a spate of motorbike thefts that have plagued Kabala Township and neighboring areas.

The arrests were made as part of an intensified police operation to combat the alarming rise in motorcycle-related crimes.

Police reports indicate that the criminal group employed a deceptive tactic: the female suspect would approach motorbike riders under the guise of requesting a ride. Once the rider engaged, two male accomplices would strike, often resorting to violence to subdue the victim.

Victims of these attacks have reported severe injuries, including stabbings, with some incidents resulting in fatalities. The stolen motorcycles were allegedly transported to larger towns and regions, where they were sold.

In response to the surge in these incidents, the Sierra Leone Police have launched targeted operations across the country to apprehend suspects and dismantle criminal networks. Authorities are urging commercial motorbike riders and the public to remain vigilant against such schemes and report suspicious activity immediately.

“The safety of our citizens is our top priority,” a police spokesperson stated. “We will continue to inform the public as new developments emerge in this case.”
