The Chief Executive Officer of Malador Company, Marwan Malador has reportedly been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as part of an ongoing investigation into the recruitment and travel arrangements of 28 Sierra Leoneans sent to Qatar.

The disclosure was made by the Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, who said authorities are seeking to establish the circumstances under which the individuals were transported abroad without all required travel and employment procedures being properly secured.

According to the Minister, the matter has raised serious concerns regarding compliance with labour migration regulations and the responsibilities of recruitment agencies involved in facilitating overseas employment opportunities for Sierra Leoneans.

He noted that the investigation is intended to determine whether all legal and administrative requirements governing foreign employment recruitment were followed and whether any breaches occurred during the process.

The Minister stressed that the Government’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of Sierra Leonean workers seeking employment abroad, stressing that recruitment agencies must operate within established laws and standards designed to safeguard migrant workers.

The referral of the matter to the CID marks a major step in efforts to ensure accountability within the recruitment sector and strengthen oversight of labour migration processes.

Authorities are expected to examine documentation, recruitment procedures, and travel arrangements connected to the group of 28 Sierra Leoneans as part of the investigation.

The Ministry has reiterated its commitment to promoting safe, legal, and transparent labour migration while ensuring that all entities engaged in overseas recruitment adhere strictly to national regulations.

The outcome of the investigation is expected to provide further clarity on the circumstances surrounding the recruitment process and determine whether any legal action will be taken against those found responsible for any violations.
