A 32-year-old cleaner, Daniel Alpha, has been released on bail by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2, following his arraignment on charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
Court documents allege that on July 10, 2026, at No. 3 MacDonald Street in Freetown’s Western Area, Alpha, together with other persons yet to be identified, conspired to commit larceny.
He is further accused of stealing one MacBook, 17 laptops, and Le7,000 in cash from the same premises on the same date. The total value of the stolen items is stated to be Le31,000, belonging to Arfau Turay.
When the charges were read in court, no plea was entered as the matter is proceeding by way of committal proceedings.
The prosecution told the court that both the case file and inquiry file had already been served on the defence, a position confirmed by defence counsel. Defence lawyer A. Vandy Esq. then moved an application for bail under Section 76(c) of the Criminal Procedure Act 2024.
After considering the application, Magistrate Fornah granted bail in the sum of Le40,000, with one surety in a like amount. The surety must reside in Freetown, possess a fixed address, and present valid identification.
The case has been adjourned to August 20, 2026, for further hearing.
