Seven correctional officers from the Pujehun District Correctional Centre were promoted to various ranks.

The ceremony, held at the Pujehun District Magistrate’s office, marked a momentous occasion attended by security personnel and district stakeholders.

Centre Manager Augustine Majia Sungu and six other officers were honored in the promotion ceremony, with District Security Coordinator Festus Joseph Gbani from the Office of National Security presiding over the event.

In his address, Gbani commended the officers, highlighting their dedication and hard work, which earned them their new ranks. He emphasized the core mission of correctional services—rehabilitation and the need to treat all inmates with dignity and respect.

Gbani congratulated the officers and encouraged them to continue setting high standards for their peers. Augustine Sungu, the newly promoted Assistant Superintendent of Correctional Centre-1, expressed his gratitude, acknowledging that his promotion was the result of years of hard work and dedication. He encouraged colleagues yet to be promoted to persevere.

District Officer Yankuba Joeby also expressed gratitude to the Government of Sierra Leone for recognizing the officers’ efforts. He urged the newly promoted to maintain their exemplary work as a model of hope for others in the service.

The officers promoted were:

  1. Augustine Majia Songu – Assistant Superintendent of Correctional Centre-1

  2. Aminata Sheriff – Assistant Superintendent of Correctional Centre-2

  3. Beatrice Bonnie – Chief Officer

  4. Senior S Squire – Chief Officer

  5. Isata Jabbie – Sergeant

  6. Mohamed Jalloh – Corporal

  7. Isata Thoronka – Corporal

Similar ceremonies were held across other district correctional centers in the country, reflecting the government’s ongoing commitment to the development of Correctional Services.
