The Children of the Nations Sierra Leone (COTN-SL) has announced the completion of a new Technical Vocational (TecVoc) training facility aimed at equipping children and young people with practical skills for future livelihoods.

The project, supported by Children of the Nations International (COTNI), has already been fully electrified and is ready for use. The development marks a significant milestone in the organization’s efforts to expand opportunities for vulnerable children and youth across Sierra Leone.

However, despite the completion of the building, COTN-SL has raised concern over a critical gap that could hinder its immediate impact—the lack of essential training equipment. According to the organization, without the necessary tools and materials, the facility cannot deliver the full range of vocational programmes it was designed to support.

In an appeal to partners, donors, and well-wishers, COTN-SL is seeking support to furnish the centre with TecVoc equipment. The organization emphasized that such contributions would enable beneficiaries to gain hands-on experience in trades including carpentry, tailoring, and electrical work.

Officials noted that the initiative is particularly targeted at children who may not pursue traditional academic pathways, offering them an alternative route to self-reliance through skills development. They added that access to vocational training would not only improve employment prospects but also help build confidence, independence, and long-term resilience.

Describing the facility as more than just a physical structure, COTN-SL highlighted its potential to serve as a hub of opportunity for disadvantaged youth. The organization stressed that equipping the centre is essential to transforming it into a fully functional training space capable of breaking cycles of poverty and fostering sustainable development.
