Pa Demba Raod Court No. 1 on the order of Magistrate Mark Ngegba has issued a bench warrant for Councilor Sheku Alhassan Gibreal Turay for not appearing in Court.
Councilor Turay was under trial before the magistrate of the Pademba Road Court for one count of incitement contrary to law.
The offence particulars stated that between 1st January 2021 and 31st December 2021 at New City Hall Administrative building, Wallace Johnson Street, Freetown, Councilor Turay made inciting statement with intent to undermine the peace.
The witness that prosecuted him was Mohamed Jusu a Cyber Analyst. He stated that his role was to analyze all scientific evidence and report them when required.
He said on September 23rd, 2022, he was at the cyber lap when he received a request and a flash drive containing video for examination, analysis and report.
He said he used hash key and voice analyzer to prove the authenticity of the video. He said he then transcribed the video to English because it was in Krio. At the end of his examination, he was crossed examined.
In the close of the prosecution’s case, the defense lawyer, Lansana Dumbuya encouraged their client to testify, challenging the allegation he was brought to court for.
Defense counsel A. Bangura shortly after the matter was mentioned by the court clerk informed the bench that he has been able to speak to his client. He left the bench to contact his client.
The magistrate ignored the application and ordered a bench warrant against the accuse to return on Monday 29th May 2023.
