The Freetown Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of Amara Salia, a 54-year-old employee of the National Ports Authority of Sierra Leone, following allegations of conspiracy and inflicting grievous bodily harm. The charges stem from an incident at a car wash in Lumley in March.

Salia, also known as Pelitp, appeared before Magistrate Mary Julian Gbloh at Pademba Road Court No. 5. He faces four charges: conspiracy, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, wounding, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, all under Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

The charges allege that on March 28, at a car wash in Kamayama, Salia conspired with unidentified individuals to commit grievous bodily harm against Abubakarr Turay. He is accused of intentionally inflicting serious injuries on Turay and maliciously wounding him, with an additional charge of assault resulting in actual bodily harm.

No plea was entered as the charges were read during the preliminary investigation. Prosecutor Sergeant Santigie Koroma requested a brief adjournment to call the next witness.

Magistrate Gbloh denied bail and ordered Salia to be remanded at the male correctional facility in Freetown. The case is set to resume on July 8, 2025.
