Sierra Leonean sensational musician, Amara Dennis Turay, popularly known as Kao Denero, on Monday, August 18, 2025, received a stern warning from both the prosecution and the bench over his conduct on social media during ongoing court proceedings.
The complainant’s lawyer, Madieu Sesay, admonished the artist for making what he described as “unnecessary posts on social media,” particularly in relation to public reactions surrounding the NLe50,000 bail granted to him in an earlier session.
Sesay specifically condemned Kao Denero for distorting facts and targeting media outlets and bloggers who reported on the case.
Magistrate Adama Kandeh, presiding at Magistrate Court No. 4 in Freetown, supported the prosecutor’s concerns, cautioning Denero to refrain from such online activity. She further disclosed that she is closely monitoring his social media presence as the trial continues.
The warning came during a sitting in which defense lawyers, led by A. Kamanda, sought a two-week adjournment to allow room for out-of-court settlement discussions.
Prosecutor Sesay, however, objected to a lengthy delay, urging the court for a shorter adjournment. After deliberation, the court adjourned the matter to August 28, 2025.
The case against Kao Denero arises from allegations of incitement and intimidation linked to events at the Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel in February this year.
