The Judiciary of Sierra Leone on Thursday 6 April 2023, informed the public that it will revive its Court Sitting in the Lower Bambara Chiefdom in Kenema District on Tuesday 11 April 2023.
In a news release by the Sierra Leone Judiciary, it informed the general public that the Chief Justice, Desmond Babatunde Edwards will resume Magistrate Court sittings in Tongo Town, Lower Bambara Chiefdom in Kenema District.
Meanwhile, Court Sittings were abruptly halted in the Chiefdom due to the eleven-year civil war coupled with insufficient Magistrates in Sierra Leone.
According to the Judiciary’s release, litigants who have cases before the Circuit Court, as well as witnesses in the Lower Bambara Chiefdom should be present in Court; at Torkpumbu Burma Court Barray on Tuesday 11 April 2023, at 10:am.
It is further stated that 16 cases will be determined by the Court between the 11th- 16th of April 2023.
The Circuit Court is fully funded by the Judiciary of Sierra Leone courtesy of the Government of Sierra Leone geared towards enhancing access to Justice and expeditious trials.
It is held in places where there are no Sitting Magistrates.
