The Court of Sierra Leone through Magistrate Mark Ngegba has granted a request made by lawyers representing the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) for the arrest of the Proprietor, Philip Turay, and Financial Manager of the National Conservation Trust Fund for failing to pay NASSIT contribution for their staff.
The lawyers representing the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) brought in the above application before Magistrate Marke Ngegba who oversaw the NASSIT Court over the weekend.
The National Conservation Trust Fund Proprietor, Martin Foday, and the Financial Manager, Philip Turay, are charged on a count of failure to pay Social Security Contributions Contrary to law.
The defendants, National Conservation Trust Fund, Martin A. Foday and Philip Turay being an establishment and employer respectively under the National Social Security and Insurance Trust Act No. 5 of 2001, on diverse dates between February 2017 to May 2017, at No. 4-6 FA John Avenue, Congo Town, Freetown, did fail to pay Social Security Contributions in the sum of nineteen thousand seven hundred and thirteen Leones fifty seven cents (Le 19,713.57) in the new Leones for its workers to the Trust within the required period.
Police are to execute the warrant as against the 2nd of September 2023 when the matter comes up again.
