Renowned and legendary Sierra Leonean culture singer, Ngor Gbetuwa, has passed away. Famous for his smash hit “Amuyamamuye,” Gbetuwa’s music has been a significant cultural touchstone for the nation.
Ngor Gbetuwa, a legendary voice of Sierra Leone, used his art to chronicle the country’s struggles during the brutal 11-year civil war. His music did more than recount the pain and challenges faced by Sierra Leoneans; it also served as a beacon of hope and resilience.
Through his lyrics, Gbetuwa emphasized the hardships endured during the war, yet his songs also celebrated the strength and perseverance of the Sierra Leonean people.

I don’t understand what he says I’m his songs as I don’t speak or understand Mende, but I love his songs and I think they’re beautiful. I have a collection of few of them.
