Chief Minister David Sengeh has marked a significant milestone in his career, celebrating five years since his approval by Parliament as a cabinet minister in Sierra Leone.
Reflecting on this journey, he shared highlights of his accomplishments, expressing gratitude to President Julius Maada Bio, his dedicated teams, and the people of Sierra Leone.
In a statement, Dr. Sengeh highlighted five key achievements that define his tenure:
Leadership in Education: He led the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), which had the largest workforce and budget allocation, earning the prestigious Best Ministry Award presented by President Bio.
Global Recognition: He received the Best Minister Award in the World from the World Government Summit for his transformative contributions to education and policy.
International Impact: Dr. Sengeh played pivotal roles in global education policy, serving as Chair of the Global Education Monitoring Report, leading the Transforming Education Summit, and contributing to financing mechanisms through the Global Partnership for Education.
Historic Role: He became Sierra Leone’s youngest Chief Minister, where he negotiated the Agreement for National Unity and spearheaded strategic initiatives for national development.
Authorship and Legislation: Dr. Sengeh authored the best-selling book Radical Inclusion and played a central role in drafting and enacting several laws and policy documents.
Expressing optimism for the future, the Chief Minister stated, “What excites me is this — we are only getting started. We will transform Sierra Leone.”
