Law enforcement officers at the Fallah checkpoint on the Bo-Taiama Highway apprehended two major drug distributors in possession of a large quantity of Kush, a highly illegal substance.

The suspects, identified as Sullay Bayoh and Nyakeh Vandi, both residing at No. 94B Wilkinson Road in Freetown, were traveling in a black tinted vehicle with registration number AWQ 115 when they were intercepted.

The operation was led by Detective Police Constable Patrick Mohamed Ngobeh, alongside Military Police Officer Corporal Kanu. During a routine search of the vehicle, officers discovered the illicit drugs hidden in a black plastic bag.

The discovery led to the immediate arrest of the suspects, who were subsequently transported to the Bo West Division for further investigation under the oversight of the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU).

Nyakeh Vandi, one of the suspects, confessed during interrogation to distributing Kush in the Dodo and Kasama villages within Tikonko Chiefdom, Bo District. The suspects remain in police custody as the investigation continues.

This arrest is the latest in a series of successful drug-related operations at the Fallah checkpoint, which has become a critical point of control under the leadership of the Regional Police Commander Southern Province, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Brima Kanneh.

AIG Kanneh has underscored the importance of these operations, highlighting the significant impact that the distribution of drugs like Kush has on the local crime rate. He reaffirmed the police’s commitment to holding all drug offenders accountable, ensuring that justice is served without prejudice.

As the investigation unfolds, the community awaits further updates, hopeful that these arrests will lead to a broader crackdown on the illegal drug trade in the region.
