Residents of Ward 346, four communities are now celebrating the installation of crucial Bore Hole water systems.
This achievement is the outcome of the unwavering dedication of Councilor Ernest Ngenda Sama, who prioritized fulfilling his promise to provide essential water access to the people of the ward.
After conducting a thorough needs assessment in various communities, Councillor Sama discovered the severe pollution of the main water source, Taia River, due to mining activities in the North. Prompted by this revelation, he approached and successfully advocated with Goal Sierra Leone, a prominent non-governmental organization specializing in community development projects.
Recognizing the urgent water challenges faced by the communities, Goal Sierra Leone collaborated with Councilor Sama to implement the Bore Hole water system project in Ward 346. This initiative has now benefitted Njorlohun, Sembehun Madina, Kortiya, and Mokabba communities, providing a significant relief to residents who previously had limited access to clean and safe water.
The Bore Hole water systems ensure a reliable and sustainable water supply by extracting groundwater, free from the pollution caused by mining activities. This development has not only improved living conditions but has also enhanced the health and well-being of the residents.
Councilor Sama expressed his satisfaction, stating, “Access to clean water is a fundamental right of every citizen. I am delighted that Goal Sierra Leone recognized the urgency and collaborated with us to provide this much-needed resource to our communities. This achievement reinforces our commitment to improving the lives of our constituents.”
Residents of the benefited communities expressed gratitude to Councilor Sama and Goal Sierra Leone for addressing their water challenges. This newfound access to a reliable water supply is expected to positively impact daily lives, particularly in terms of sanitation, hygiene, and overall community development.
The successful Bore Hole water system project serves as a testament to the power of collaboration between local authorities and non-governmental organizations. It is hoped that this initiative will inspire similar efforts in other regions facing water challenges, leading to improved living conditions for all citizens.
As Ward 346 celebrates this milestone, attention now shifts towards further community development projects, fueled by the commitment of Councilor Ernest Ngenda Sama and the support of organizations like Goal Sierra Leone. There is optimism that the ward will continue to thrive and flourish in the years to come.
