The Executive Director of the Global Youth for Empowerment and Development (GYED) is in Falaba District for a series of project implementation engagements, which included attending the official launch of a major European Union-funded initiative.

The project, “Empowered Falaba District Council for Efficient Service Delivery to the Citizens,” is implemented by the Falaba District Council. It aims to strengthen local governance, improve service delivery, and enhance community participation across the district.

A central component of the launch was the distribution of 18 new motorbikes to the district’s elected councillors. The provision is designed to improve mobility, allowing councillors to better reach remote communities, supervise local development activities, and engage directly with citizens.

GYED expressed its support for partners focused on sustainable progress and district-level systems strengthening. The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to empowering communities and collaborating on initiatives that drive lasting development across Sierra Leone.
