An IT officer at Family Kingdom has taken the company’s general manager to court, accusing him of failing to pay mandatory social security contributions.

Firas Youssef, the president and general manager of United Family Kingdom Investment, faced legal action on Friday, August 23, 2024, brought against him by Mahmoud Mansaray, an IT officer at Family Kingdom. Mansaray accused Youssef of failing to pay his National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) contributions, as required by law.

The case was heard by Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1, where Youssef was charged with non-registration of an employee, in violation of Section 30 (1)(a) of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust Act of 2001. The charges also included making a false representation with the intent to evade payment of NASSIT contributions.

According to the prosecution, Youssef allegedly failed to register Mansaray with NASSIT between April 12 and July 30, 2024, despite employing him as an Information Technology officer. The prosecutor, Lawyer Samura, led Mansaray in presenting evidence against Youssef, detailing the circumstances of the alleged non-compliance.

Youssef, however, denied the allegations when the charges were read to him. His lawyer applied for bail under Section 79 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Act of 1965, which was granted by Magistrate Kekura. The bail was set at 50 thousand new Leones, with one surety required. The surety must be a responsible citizen and produce an ID card, with the bail conditions to be approved by the Deputy Acting Registrar.

The case has been adjourned to Monday, August 26, 2024, for further hearing.
