Renowned Sierra Leonean artist Frederick Dapaye Peters, popularly known as Famous, paid a courtesy visit to the management of Rokel Commercial Bank on Friday, 9th January 2026, to express appreciation for the bank’s support during his recent “No Pressure” concert and for its continued backing over the years.
The visit followed the successful staging of the concert at Chapter One Night Club, where Rokel Commercial Bank was among the key supporters. Famous said the engagement was specifically to thank the bank’s leadership and staff for standing by him throughout his musical journey.

Welcoming the artist and his team, the Head of Public Relations at Rokel Commercial Bank, Mr. Aruna Dumbuya, received Famous on behalf of the Board and Management. Mr. Dumbuya described Famous as a household name in Sierra Leone’s music industry and said the bank was pleased to receive him in appreciation of its support.
In his remarks, Famous said it was important for him to personally return to say thank you to Rokel Commercial Bank for its support during the “No Pressure” concert and for its consistent encouragement over the years. He noted that the bank, under the leadership of Managing Director Dr. Walton Ekundayo Gilpin, has always been supportive whenever he organises events.

The artist recalled that although he previously served as a brand ambassador for the bank, Rokel Commercial Bank has continued to support him even beyond that role. He explained that this long-standing relationship was the reason he chose Rokel Commercial Bank as the first institution to visit to express his gratitude.
Famous also commended the new Marketing Manager, Mrs. Micheala Macauley, whom he described as very helpful throughout the organisation of the concert. He said Rokel Commercial Bank has stood by him consistently, adding that this was why he continues to publicly support the bank, including his appearance at the bank’s end-of-year carnival.
“Rokel Bank has become like a family to me,” Famous said, pledging to always support the bank in return. He further disclosed plans to host another major show on 18 April in the eastern part of Freetown and appealed to Rokel Commercial Bank to come on board as a key partner for the event.

Responding on behalf of management, the Deputy Managing Director of Rokel Commercial Bank, Mr. Emanuel Borbor, commended Famous for the gesture of appreciation, noting that it was the reason senior management staff gathered to receive him. He said the bank is committed to supporting talented and development-oriented Sierra Leoneans, describing Famous as one such individual whose work promotes the country’s image.
Mr. Borbor praised Famous as one of the biggest music acts in Sierra Leone, describing him as his personal favourite artist. He noted that Famous’ music is mature and comparable to contemporary Nigerian music, adding that his songs have the potential to gain international recognition. He applauded Famous for returning to say thank you, likening the gesture to the biblical story of the ten lepers, where only one returned to express gratitude.

He assured the artist of the bank’s continued support and revealed that management would look into the possibility of reviving the brand ambassador arrangement.
The Marketing Manager, Mrs. Micheala Macauley, said she was impressed working with Famous, describing him as warm and gentle. She praised the “No Pressure” concert as an event of international standard and reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting the artist. She added that Rokel Commercial Bank is pleased to work with national stars like Famous to further enhance the bank’s visibility across the country.

Other senior officials, including the Head of Operations, Mr. Adekali Kamara, and the Head of Information Technology, Mr. Alhaji H.R. Lewally, also commended Famous for choosing Rokel Commercial Bank as the first institution to visit to express appreciation. They equally assured him of the bank’s continued support.

The visit concluded with a group photograph featuring Famous and members of the management team of Rokel Commercial Bank.
