A five-year-old girl selling groundnuts was rescued from the rain after being found wet and shivering around 7:15 PM in Freetown.

According to a witness, while traveling in a taxi, the vehicle was stopped by a man who requested the driver’s assistance to help the girl, who was found walking under heavy rain and nearly fainting. The man, whose destination was in the same direction as the girl’s, offered to drop her off at a junction near her home. However, due to the continued heavy rain, he decided to take her to a safer location instead.

After getting the girl something to eat, the man asked her a few questions. She revealed that she had left home in the morning to sell groundnuts for her mother and had only eaten Garri before heading to the market. He later escorted her to her home, where he discovered she was living with her stepmother.
