A severe flooding incident has overwhelmed the toilets and playground of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Junior Secondary School in Taiama Kori Chiefdom, significantly impacting the school’s reopening.

According to Acting Principal Mr. Mamoud Fofana, the flooding has created a perilous environment for both pupils and teachers. “Almost every area of the school is inundated with water, endangering the lives of our students and staff,” he stated.

The school, while government-approved, relies entirely on volunteer teachers, including Mr. Fofana himself. The flood has resulted in considerable damage, leading to the loss of essential furniture and learning materials.

In light of this crisis, Mr. Fofana is urgently appealing to the government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and compassionate Sierra Leoneans for assistance. “Our school is in desperate need of help to recover from this disaster,” he emphasized.

As the community rallies to support the school, the need for immediate aid becomes increasingly critical to ensure that education can resume safely and effectively.
