Four men were found dead early Wednesday morning in Tiama Village in Bo district the South of Sierra Leone, following a fatal accident in which their vehicle plunged off a cliff into the water below. The tragic incident occurred around 1:00 AM, and the victims, who remain unidentified, are believed to have drowned.
Eyewitnesses from the village gathered around the crash site, but the identities of the deceased remain a mystery. However, locals suspect the men may be Liberians, as their vehicle bore a Liberian number plate.
According to Mr. Daniel Sesay, a Tiama resident who filmed the aftermath, five men were involved in the crash. Four succumbed to their injuries after the vehicle fell from the bridge, while the fifth victim is currently in critical condition at a hospital in Taima. “The last man is fighting for his life, but his chances of survival are slim due to the severity of his injuries,” Mr. Sesay stated.
Mr. Sesay commended the residents of Taiama for their quick response, noting that despite the challenges of responding to the accident at such an early hour, villagers were able to retrieve the bodies from the water and transport the lone survivor to the hospital.
He also urged those who come across his footage of the scene to share it widely in hopes of identifying the victims and informing their families.
Authorities have yet to confirm the identities of the men or the cause of the accident, and investigations are ongoing.
