Golden Coast Hotel Management, the new operators of the Bintumani Hotel, has taken note of recent social media posts making serious accusations about how the company treats its staff and interacts with government officials.

We believe the public deserves clear facts.

1. About Our Staff and Payments

When we took over the hotel in January 2025, the facility was almost entirely non-operational and required major rehabilitation. Because of this, we kept only a small number of staff from the previous management—just enough to maintain the residences of construction workers and support a few rated guests.

Here are the facts:
– Every retained employee is earning more than they earned under the previous management.
– Salaries have been paid based on the agreed terms.
– At no point has staff pay been determined “at the discretion” of any manager, as claimed online.

As the hotel becomes fully operational, we will naturally expand the workforce and carry out a full salary review, which is tied to the completion of construction—not social media timelines.

2. False Claims of Child Labour.

The posts also allege that Golden Coast Hotel Management employed under-aged girls in the restaurant section. This is completely false.

Every individual employed at the Bintumani Hotel—whether temporary or retained—has presented a valid national identification document, which is the government-approved proof of age in Sierra Leone.

We do not employ minors, and we have never engaged anyone who did not meet the legal working-age requirement.

The redevelopment of the Bintumani Hotel is being done under full compliance with national labour standards, and we take those obligations seriously.

3. Claims Against Public Officials

The posts go further to accuse officials of the Ministry of Labour, National Revenue Authority and the Wages and Compensation Commission of misconduct involving the hotel. We want to state clearly:

⚫ Golden Coast Hotel Management has not given bribes—in cash or in kind—to any public official.
⚫ No official has been given free rooms or favours outside of normal administrative processes.
⚫ We have no knowledge of, nor have we witnessed, any of the behaviours described in the posts.

These claims are simply untrue and risk damaging the reputation of innocent people.

Our Focus Right Now

Our team is fully focused on rebuilding the Bintumani Hotel into a modern 5-star facility. This is a large investment, and we want Sierra Leone to benefit from a hotel that meets international standards. During this phase, the small staff on site remain essential, and we appreciate their work and patience as the reconstruction continues.

Golden Coast Hotel Management remains committed to:

⚫ Treating Sierra Leonean workers fairly and with respect
⚫ Operating within Sierra Leonean labour laws
⚫ Working transparently with all government oversight institutions
We ask the public to disregard the misleading claims circulating online and to rely on official updates as the hotel project progresses.
