A report has stated that Daniel Wallal headteacher of the MCA Primary School Tambaiabalia Chiefdom in the Falaba District, Northern Sierra Leone is in police custody for impregnating a 15-year-old pupil of the school.

According to the report, the matter was first reported at the Mongo Police Station on the 16th of January 2023 wherein the suspect was arrested and soon released as a result of being shielded by some powerful people in the chiefdom.

It was stated that the 15-year-old girl was confirmed pregnant by one of the medical centers in Mongo after her father denied his daughter is not pregnant.

The report stated that the girl was able to identify the perpetrator after the police threaten to arrest and detained her father if he continued to impend their investigation process.

The headteacher was arrested and detained by the police but was said to be bailed by one of the section chiefs which led to some women’s rights groups in the district demanding proper investigation into the matter and charged to court to seek justice for the girl.

It was reported that the police re-arrested the headteacher on Tuesday 7th February 2023 for proper investigation into matter.

Reports have shown that Falaba District is one of the districts where child abuse is common as residents in the district don’t report cases of child abuse matters for fear of dragging their relatives or neighbour to face the full force of the law.
