Ibrahim M. Kalokoh, a herbalist accused of ritual murder, has been remanded to the Correctional Facility on Pademba Road in Freetown, following his recent court appearance.

Kalokoh, who has been consistently denied bail due to the non-bailable nature of the offense, faced the Magistrate Court for another hearing in the ongoing murder case.

The charges against Kalokoh stem from the alleged murder of Kabba Santigie Bangura, a former lecturer at Fourah Bay College (FBC). The accused currently faces a murder charge and has made multiple appearances in court since his arrest.

The fourth prosecution witness, Paul Amara Makieu, an officer from the Homicide Unit at the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters on Pademba Road, testified during the proceedings.

Makieu stated that on March 6, 2023, he received a transferred case and enquiry file from the Central Police Station regarding a missing person.

He revealed that the file included a request for tracing call logs on registered SIM numbers 076706699 and 073742578. It also contained various documents, including photographs of the deceased and a grey 4runner vehicle with registration number ASM 939.

The witness refrained from divulging the cause of death, as the pathologist’s report was deemed necessary to present this information in court.

On April 19, 2023, the accused was formally charged with the offense of murder, and the charge statement was submitted as evidence.

During cross-examination, Kalokoh, who was unrepresented by legal counsel, questioned the witness.

Subsequently, Magistrate Ngegba remanded the accused and adjourned the hearing to July 21, 2023, for further proceedings.
