A woman employed as a housemaid, Adamsay Fofanah, appeared before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura at Pademba Road Court No. 8 facing a charge of fraudulent conversion under Section 20(vi)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
Prosecutors allege that on Saturday 4 October 2025 at Regen Road, Lumley, Fofanah converted Le 60,000 entrusted to her by Sallay Conteh for safekeeping.
The charge was read and explained to the accused; no plea was entered. Fofanah was unrepresented.
Detective Police Constable 14898 Joseph Lamin Dumbuya led the prosecution and served the defendant under the Criminal Procedure Act 2024. The prosecution opposed bail.
Magistrate Samura denied bail, citing the seriousness of the offence, and remanded Fofanah to the female Correctional Facility in Freetown.
The case is adjourned to 27 October 2025.
