Senior opposition Member of Parliament, Hon. Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, has revealed that President Julius Maada Bio played a major role in saving his life during a recent medical emergency.

The veteran APC politician and former Minister of Information disclosed that when his health condition became critical, it was President Bio who personally intervened by paying for his medical bills and facilitating his travel to the United Kingdom for urgent treatment.

“The night I was almost declared dead… President Bio reactivated me,” Hon. Kargbo said. He added that the President also directed the Sierra Leone High Commissioner in London to ensure he received proper medical attention.

The revelation has drawn public interest, as Hon. Kargbo is a prominent figure in the main opposition party. His public gratitude to President Bio has been described by some observers as a rare moment of political civility across party lines.

Hon. Kargbo also mentioned that his personal relationship with the President spans several years, and despite political differences, their friendship has remained intact. He further referenced the President’s active participation in the recent funeral of the late Dr. Kadie Sesay, including attending the civic laying-out, Janaza prayers, and the burial ceremony.
