Popular Sierra Leonean musician Innocent, widely known as Innocent Kuti, has raised concerns about an ongoing electricity outage affecting his neighborhood and the Kissy Government Hospital.

The artist took to social media to share his frustration and urge swift intervention from authorities.

Innocent recounted that upon returning from London, he was delighted to find consistent electricity supply during nighttime in his community.

However, the situation changed abruptly after a bus collided with electric poles that supply power to his home and the nearby hospital.

We’ve been out of light since then. For me, I can afford the fuel to run my generator full-time, but what about those who cannot?” Innocent wrote.

Highlighting the impact of the outage on residents who cannot afford alternative power sources, the musician called on the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), and other relevant stakeholders to address the issue urgently.

He also urged the owner of the vehicle responsible for the damage to take responsibility for the situation.

The lack of electricity not only disrupts daily life but also affects critical services at the Kissy Government Hospital, underscoring the urgency of the matter.

Community members have echoed Innocent’s concerns, emphasizing the need for immediate action to restore power and prevent further inconvenience.
