Komba Felix Ngekia, a final-year student at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) and CEO of the Good Agricultural Initiative Network Sierra Leone (GAIN-SL), is spearheading a transformative agricultural project in Tombodu Town, Kamaa Chiefdom, Kono District.

While pursuing his degree in public sector management, Ngekia is also leading a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing food production and fostering sustainable farming practices in the region.

Ngekia’s commitment to agriculture is evident through his extensive farming operations. He has successfully cultivated 20 hectares of rice, a vital crop for Sierra Leone’s food security.

In addition, he has allocated 7 acres each to growing cassava and oil palm, which are crucial for the local economy. Ngekia’s efforts extend further with the cultivation of a variety of vegetables, including potatoes and corn, enriching the local food supply and promoting agricultural diversity.

His work not only underscores the role of agriculture in economic development but also highlights the potential of integrating educational pursuits with practical, impactful projects.

Ngekia’s achievements serve as an inspiration to young Sierra Leoneans, illustrating how dedication to both education and agriculture can drive significant progress in rural communities.
