Sierra Leone’s Joint Security Operatives including the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), Office of National Security (ONS) and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has on Tuesday 9th April, 2024 held a day meeting to discuss security vulnerability in the Lower Banta Chiefdom Moyamba District.

The meeting held at the Chiefdom Headquarter town of Gbangbatoke attracted key Chiefdom Stakeholders including Representative of the Paramount Chief of Lower Banta Chiefdom, Immigration Officer, Maritime Officer, Tribal Heads, Chiefdom Youth Leader among others.

In his key note address, the RSLAF Navy S/Stg. Sarankule disclosed readiness to promptly institute surveillance team for monitoring ghettos, trailers, boats and other illegal activities within the Chiefdom.

The Paramount Chief Representative who doubles as Section Chief Gbangbatoke Section Chief Samuel Santigie called on the attention of all stakeholders to collaborate in the figh against the harmful substances Kush and other related harmful drugs.
Chief Santigie pleaded with the police to mount check points for a thorough scrutiny of trailers from Guinea to Sierra Leone.

Chief Santigie assured unflinching supports in maintaining law and order in the Lower Banta Chiefdom.

In his contributions the Maritime Officer John Bangura asked for supports by boat owners and authorities concerned to strictly maintain byelaws in the running of boats for prompt response to any accident on the sea.

Highlighting some of the byelaws on running boats, Chairman Boat Owners Union Alpha Conteh said fines are been levied against boat captain who failed to communicate through the appropriate channels and that any boat that loads harmful drugs or illegal items is no exception of the law.

Other speakers including Town Chief of Gbangbatoke, Councillor Ward 343, Immigration Officer and Drivers Union appreciated the outcome of the meeting and pleaded for continuity.
