A coordinated crackdown on illicit drug activity has resulted in multiple arrests and major seizures in Freetown and Waterloo, following a joint security operation conducted on Friday, 31 October, and Saturday, 1 November 2025.

The operation, spearheaded by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in collaboration with the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the National Public Health Agency (NPHA), targeted known hotspots for narcotic trafficking and abuse.

On Friday, 31 October, security officers apprehended Abdulai Janneh of Juldeh Drive, Allen Town, for possession of two boxes of 250mg Tramadol. In a separate raid, Aminata Brainard and Aaron Brainard of 55 Leicester Road were arrested with 541 wraps of suspected Kush and 20 wraps of cannabis sativa.

The operation intensified the following day in the Waterloo community, leading to the arrest of 23 individuals both male and female. Authorities also recovered 890 wraps of suspected Kush, 231 wraps and loose quantities of cannabis sativa, and 200 tablets of Tramadol.

Security agencies say the operation underscores the government’s commitment to combating the proliferation of illicit drugs and protecting public health. The joint exercise reflects growing inter-agency cooperation and a proactive stance against drug-related crime.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
