The Kailahun district council constructs ultra modern market structure and stores for its traders.

The construction of the market place is to improve on the quality standards of the traders across the township.
The market structure according to plan is a story building with many shops and a separate structure containing six stores.
The construction project started in mid 2022 and is yet to reach 40% completion.

The council under the leadership of the chairman, Ahmed Keke Sahr Lamin undertakes sustainable development across the district, but many among his projects are yet to be completed.

However, so many concerns have been raised with regards the delay in the completion of the construction of the market. As rainy season approaches traders continue to express dismay, as the location of the market place is a floody zone.

The market project among other projects within the district, according to the Information, Education, and Communications Officer of Kailahun district council, Mohamed Allieu Koroma are solely sponsored by the council with the own source revenue. And that the delay for the completion of the market and other projects is caused by the low compliance in paying taxes by residents. He therefore called on all and sundry to pay their taxes to ensure more developments in the district.
