The football governing body, Kono District Football Association (KDFA), held a football materials distribution ceremony today, November 27, 2024, at the Sessie Gbanda Hall in Koidu City.

During the event, KDFA called on the 14 chiefdoms in the district to collect their kits as part of the association’s support for the upcoming second edition of the Chiefdom League.

Each chiefdom received two footballs and one complete set of jerseys to promote the development of football across the district.

At the ceremony, the FA Chairman, Abubakr Mansaray, announced a 50% increase in prize money for this year’s league.

The winners will take home 20,000 NLe, while the runners-up will receive 10,000 NLe, compared to the previous edition’s prizes of 10,000 NLe and 5,000 NLe, respectively.

The 2024 edition of the Chiefdom League is scheduled to kick off on December 7, with an opening match between Nimikoro and Gbense chiefdoms. The competition will conclude on January 1, 2025.
