The Youth Chairman of Kunike Sanda Chiefdom, Mohamed Samuel Kargbo, has issued a heartfelt message to the people of Sierra Leone, addressing the critical issue of substance abuse among the youth, particularly the widespread misuse of Kush.
He emphasized the need for collective action to guide young people toward a brighter future through education and empowerment.
In his message, Kargbo highlighted a significant development for the youth in Kunike Sanda, Barina, and Folawusu chiefdoms.
On September 25, 2024, he held a productive meeting with the Principal and Staff of the Government Technical Institution Masingbi (GTI), where they discussed a potential partnership aimed at providing educational opportunities for the youth.
This collaboration between the Kunike Sanda Chiefdom Youth Council and GTI Masingbi will enable the enrollment of many youths for the upcoming academic year.
As part of this initiative, Kargbo announced that he had purchased 25 application forms, with a target of securing 100 forms to support young people in accessing quality education.
He acknowledged the government’s ongoing commitment to free quality education and youth empowerment, and explained that the Kunike Sanda Chiefdom Youth Council will cover 60% of the associated costs, including pamphlets, contributions, field trips, and events.
This marks the third edition of the Kunike Sanda Chiefdom Youth Council scholarship project, “Youth in Planning and Implementation,” which is open to all youths in Sierra Leone, with a special focus on the three chiefdoms. Kargbo urged young people to take advantage of this opportunity, as many youths have already benefited from the initiative, securing employment in technical institutions and mentoring others.
In addition to the scholarships, Kargbo announced the availability of a highly anticipated course in Catering for women and girls at GTI Masingbi. The institution is equipped with trained lecturers and the necessary tools to provide a comprehensive education in this field. He encouraged interested individuals to apply and make use of this valuable opportunity.
The Youth Council continues to play a vital role in empowering the youth and fostering sustainable development in the region. Kargbo expressed his hope that the community would seize these opportunities and work toward building a better future.
For those interested in applying or seeking more information, the Youth Council office is located at 35 Kono Highway, Masingbi, opposite Coach Dee Game. They can also be contacted via WhatsApp at 079075988/080357884 or by email at [email protected]. The institution is set to reopen in early October, and Kargbo looks forward to welcoming the new batch of students.
Kargbo concluded his message by extending his gratitude to the community and urging the youth to continue striving for success through education and empowerment.
