Kush has been one of the most effective drugs of late amongst Sierra Leonean youths, making them lose consciousness within the shortest possible time and behave abnormally.

The rate of intake of such a drug has been a cause for alarm, raised by many factions within society.

But despite such red flags and its negative impact on the lives of our young people, they keep going for this harmful product, with little or no consideration of it’s effect on them.

On Sunday 13th November 2022, a youth, Mohamed but popularly known as ‘pastor’ was believed to have lost his life in a fire outbreak at Upper George Brook Dworzark, as a result of ‘Kush’ intake.

One of the eye witnesses, at the scene, Kadie Kamara, said the deceased was found lying dead in his room after the fire had been off by the neighbours.

According to her, a padlock was hung on the door of the deceased, while the fire was still ablaze.It was believed that his friends took him to his apartment after taking kush in order to prevent him from involving in abnormal behaviour and for him not to disturb his neighbours.

She said because the drugs at may have been heavy in the no deceased system, he was unable to gain consciousness, ”
despite the heavy heat from the fire. And due to lack of
consciousness, he happened to die in the process.

Another eyewitness, Alie Conteh narrated how, it was the habit of the deceased’ to lock his main door and use another comin route to access his apartment, moun rafter taking kush.

He said the deceased normally did that to minimize the attention of his neighbors, who to be normally felt offended when the deceased smoke such drug.”I will not say the kush killed him, but it contributed to his his death.”
