In a coordinated effort to combat drug trafficking, the Sierra Leone Police conducted a series of successful raids on April 13, 2024. The operations, led by DSP Septimus Siaka Vandi of the Eastend Police Division, targeted various locations across the city.
The first stop occurred at Bai Bureh Road by Taylor Street, where officers stopped a group of youths for suspicion-based searches. During the search, they arrested Benjamin A. Peters of #3 Orange Street. Peters was found in possession of one hundred (100) wraps of kush, along with an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
Following this initial success, the patrol team proceeded to Texaco based on intelligence reports. There, they conducted a search of a residence belonging to a woman known as “Mama Gee.” The search yielded significant results, uncovering two hundred and twenty (220) wraps of kush, two cachets, and a large quantity of bulk kush.
Two arrests were made at this location: Christiana Foday, also known as Mama Gee, and Lahai Sheku of Taylor Street.
Both the arrested individuals and the seized drugs are currently in police custody. These arrests are seen as a major development in the fight against kush trafficking in Sierra Leone, aligning with the government’s ongoing efforts to eradicate the drug from the country.
