Police in Kabala have arrested a 20-year-old woman, Hawa Tamba of Koromakaia village, Diang chiefdom, for allegedly stabbing her 24-year-old fiance, Lawson, in the right leg with a knife, who later died after excessive blood loss.

The incident was reported to have occurred on Monday, at approximately 20:25 hours.

The suspect, Hawa Tamba, who is now in police custody at the Kabala Police Station, alleged that the deceased has been persistently requesting sex almost daily, which she’s tired of.

On that particular day, Monday 21st July 2025, she furthered that she was just from her daily illegal gold mining activity, feeling very tired, when her fiancé forced himself on her to have sex because she refused after a lengthy argument erupted.

Hawa added that the deceased Lawson tried to strangle her on the bed & felt overwhelmed, which prompted her to reach out for a knife that was on a table close to the bed, which she used to stab him in the right leg to ease the pressure on her.

With so much blood oozing, she then shouted for help from the neighbourhood, who later came but couldn’t help out as Lawson shortly passed away.

Hawa Tamba was shortly after the incident arrested by officers of the Kondebaia Police Station and transferred to the Kabala Divisional Headquarters for further investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), as the deceased is presently at the Kabala Government Hospital awaiting autopsy.

The Crime Officer, Detective Inspector Sao Suma, assured the investigation would be expedited and justice served accordingly.
