The Local Unit Commander of the Mile 91 Police Division, Chief Superintendent of Police Michael JK Lagga has recently in a radio broadcast assured a watertight security for residents living within and around the Northern town of Mile 91, his operational areas in Tonkolili District.

The Local Unit Commander was at Radio Gbafth, Mile 91 town only community radio station for his daily security updates when he made the revelation. The radio station is used as a medium of communication for the locals in the four chiefdoms of Yoni Mamaila, Yoni Mabanta, Kholifa Mabang and Malal.

Historically, the Mile 91 Police Division is assumed by many to sit in one of the hot spots of crimes in the country because of the high crime rates recorded every year in the area.

Regardless, while thanking residents for maintaining peace and decorum especially during the past festive season, the LUC said residents of Mile 91 has proven to be peaceful, and they had shamed those with the assertions that the people in that town are lawless.

You people in Mile 91, Yoni Chiefdom and the surroundings are peaceful and have proven to be law abiding. I want you to continue with this trajectory for the sake of peace,” the LUC said.

Therefore, CSP Lagga assured residents in the area that their lives and properties would be secured and protected by the Sierra Leone Police at all times, because, he maintained that the protection of lives and properties is one of the the constitutional mandates of the Police.

What I can assure every resident in Mile 91 and the surrounding villages now is that you can go to bed and wake up in the morning without the fear of any security threat because the Police is not only observing but will immediately intervene in any situation that might threaten the peace and tranquility of the people,” the LUC, CSP Lagga stated while addressing residents during a radio interview at Radio Gbafth in Mile 91.

The Mile 91 Division covers the four sisters chiefdoms of Yoni Mamaila, Yoni Mabanta, Kholifa Mabang and Malal, and many believe that the current LUC, in the person of CSP Lagga, is the right man, considering his rapport with the local people there.

Currently, Lagga said the security situation in Mile 91 is apparently cool, calm and quiet, and his men, he further assured the public are observing to ascertain and immediately act upon any possible security threat that may arise.

The Commander cautions people who are in possession of arms to do so under the ambit of the law. The possession of arms without registration, CSP Lagga said is illegal and a crime punishable by law.
