Issa Koroma has on Friday 19th August 2022 testified against individuals in the ongoing preliminary investigation into the alleged brutal murder of his wife, Memumnatu Bangura.

24years Old Mai Dumbuya a business woman, 21 years Tamba Lebbie a student, 25years old Alfred Kargbo, footballer, 34 years old Ishmael Samura an artist and 31 years Peter Kalokoh a masoner have made their first appearance before magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pandemba Road Court No.1 in Freetown to answer to the above allegations.

The accused persons are facing two counts of charges of conspiracy to commit murder contrary to section 4 of the offences against the persons Act 1861and murder contrary to law. Police alleged that the accused persons, on Sunday 5th April at Big water, main Peninsular Road in Freetown conspired together with other persons unknown and murdered Memunatu Bangura. Police allege that the accused persons at the same place and date murdered Memunatu Bangura.

The accused persons did not take a plea after the charges have been read and explained to them because they are brought to court for a felonious offence.

The accused persons were represented by lawyer Emmanuel Teddy Koroma, M.H Bangura, and D. Barrie.

Led in evidence by Assistant Superintendent of police Ibrahim Sheik Manasaray, first persecution witness, who happens to be husband of the deceased Issa Koroma, recalled the 8th May 2022.

He was at his business place at Main Road Big Water when his wife told him she was tired and wanted to go home.

“The following day, at around 5am, I saw lots of blood in our house and I was apprehensive. I opened the door leading to the Veranda and to my greatest surprise, I met my wife lay dead in a pool of blood and her head cutoff and eyes removed.” he revealed

The witness, Koroma added that upon seeing that he called the brother of the deceased, Foday who also called the attention of the police, Koroma further told the court that the second accused was arrested at the crime scene.

The witness disclosed that his wife was taken to the mortuary for postmortem examination, while he later made statement at the Tokeh Police Station.

Lead Defence Counsel, Emmanuel Teddy Koroma for short adjournment date. Meanwhile, Magistrate Ngegba sent the accused persons to prison and he adjourned the matter to the 26th August 2022.
