In a joint effort to foster better community relations and address pertinent issues, the Local Unit Commander CSP Emanuel Kpulun partnered with Officer Commander Dockyard police post DSP Umaru Bangura, Crime officer ASP Marvel, Line Manager Inspector M’beteh, and Local Police Partnership Board (LPPB) representative Mr. Greene to conduct a sensitization event at KISSY Dockyard, Freetown.

The sensitization initiative, which took place within the Harbour Division Freetown East, aimed to create a harmonized standard of interaction with community stakeholders ahead of the upcoming elections.

CSP Kpulun expressed his gratitude for the support received during the previous sensitization efforts and reiterated the purpose of their current visit: to thank the community and raise awareness about police activities.

We have come again to thank you and to sensitize you about our activities,” announced CSP Kpulun, addressing the gathered community members through a microphone.

He emphasized the importance of avoiding any involvement in violence and urged everyone to steer clear of drugs.

During his address, CSP Kpulun highlighted the escalating issue of drug abuse within the community, particularly the consumption of substances like “Kush” and “Cannabis.” He warned that addiction to drugs often leads to criminal activities, such as theft, when individuals cannot afford to support their habits.

DSP Umaru Bangura, Officer Commander of KISSY Dockyard, commended CSP Kpulun for taking the initiative to sensitize the youth about the significance of staying away from violence and drugs.

He underscored the Sierra Leone police’s stance on these matters and condemned any form of lawlessness. DSP Bangura reassured the community that the police post at KISSY Dockyard was always ready to receive complaints and address concerns promptly.

Mr. Greene, representing the Regional Local Police Partnership Board (LPPB), provided insight into the dangers of “Kush,” describing it as a synthetic opioid that profoundly affects its victims. He warned that its usage, often in combination with substances like “Tramadol” and “Cannabis sativa,” can lead to irreversible harm.

In response to the sensitization efforts, community leaders expressed their appreciation for the presence of CSP Kpulun and DSP Bangura. Chairman Alimamy Bangura, Harbour Master Mohamed Bangura, and Secretary Keifela Bangura, representing the SAND SAND GROUND ASSOCIATION, lauded the Officer Commander’s responsiveness to their concerns. They pledged to disseminate the information to other community members who were not present and promised to report any suspicious activities in the area to the police. (Xanax)

CSP Kpulun made his mobile number available to the stakeholders, encouraging them to reach out with information at any time, assuring them of his immediate action. The collaborative effort between local law enforcement and community leaders at KISSY Dockyard underscores the significance of fostering strong ties between the police and the public to promote safety and address pressing issues within the community.
