Popular comedian and Ex-Housemates Salone contestant Osman Bendu popularly known as Mammy Thomas has publicly refuted claims that detained Reality TV star Hawa Hunt, a Canadian citizen facing legal proceedings in Sierra Leone, was granted bail.

In a statement addressed to State House Communication Director Myk Berewa, who claimed that Hunt was granted bail, Thomas maintained that he attended all court hearings related to the case and witnessed multiple bail applications being denied.”

In a Facebook post, Berewa writes: ‘Hawa Hunt was granted bail during her last court hearing, but she hasn’t met one of the requirements—securing two sureties with properties in Freetown. Let’s cut the chatter; if you own a house in Freetown, lend a hand!'”

Thomas emphasized that Hunt’s legal team had repeatedly requested bail, but the court rejected these petitions, citing her status as a flight risk and her foreign nationality.

He further revealed that Hunt was asked to present her Canadian passport while in custody at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), yet this did not change the court’s decision.

“I followed the proceedings closely and attended all the court hearings until the case was sent to the High Court, and I did not see any moment when bail was granted,” Mammy Thomas stated.

He challenged Myk Berewa to provide concrete evidence of when and where bail was allegedly granted, including the specific court and date of the ruling.

“Many people are ready to meet the bail conditions, and having these details would help clear up any confusion,” she added, underscoring the public’s interest in the case.

Dear Myk Berewa

I respectfully disagree with your statement that Hawa Hunt was granted bail.

I followed the proceedings closely and attended all the court hearings until the case was sent to the High Court, and I did not see any moment when bail was granted.

I also want to mention that her lawyer submitted several bail requests, all of which were rejected because of her being a flight risk and she is a citizen of another country

Hawa was even asked to bring her Canadian passport when she was at CID headquarters, which she did.

Despite this, her bail was denied because there were concerns that she might leave the country.

If you have any evidence that bail was granted, could you please share the details—such as the date, time, and the court where it happened? Because I strongly believe it was not at the court No.2 were I was present in every occasion of Hawa Hunt’s appearance.

Many people are ready to meet the bail conditions, and having these details would help clear up any confusion.

Thank you.

Osman Bendu (Mamy Thomas)👗
