The Central Youths Organization has initiated a five-month anti-Kush campaign in the Koidu Central Community, reporting significant arrests within hours of its public launch.

The coordinated community action aims to combat the pervasive drug issue in the area.

Among the early successes, Alieu Conteh, also known as “Negadon,” was apprehended at 12:05 AM at Opera with 32 wraps of Kush. Within the first 24 hours of the campaign, a total of three Kush sellers were taken into custody.

Two of the suspects have already been charged and sent to court, sending a clear message to other dealers in the community

Another arrest was made at Konomanyi Park, an area tragically linked to a recent death reportedly caused by Kush. The suspect in this case is connected to “Conner Store,” identified as a known hotspot for the drug.

The community’s response to the campaign has been overwhelmingly positive, with growing calls for support from civil society organizations, the police, and other stakeholders to bolster the Central Youths Organization’s efforts.

The organization describes the initiative not merely as a campaign, but as a “movement powered by the people, to protect the future of their children and the dignity of their community.”
