Police prosecutors at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1, Police Constable (PC) 14032 Koroma E. F., has on Friday 2nd June 2023 revealed that she and Police Constable Cole A.D. arrested 21-year-old Johnson Williams while stealing twenty (20) bags of rice being tendered as exhibits before Magistrate Sahr Kekura who presides over the aforesaid matter.

In an interview with Nightwatch Newspaper, the Police Prosecutor disclosed that the exhibits being tendered are in respect of a matter involving a laborer Mohamed Jalloh.

The police alleged that Jalloh on Wednesday 12th March 2023 at Queen Elizabeth II Quay at Cline Town in Freetown stole the said twenty bags of rice belonging to the Government of Sierra Leone.

Madam Ekunaid stated that Johnson Williams was apprehended on Wednesday 31 May 2023 in the court premises, adding that he was smartly dressed as one of the litigants.

She said initially Police Constable Agnes Dixon Cole saw Williams behind the twenty bags of rice pretending he was hiding from someone. But when she went closer to him, she discovered that Johnson Williams had already loaded the rice in a plastic bag, disclosing that prompted them to get him arrested and taken to the Ross Road Police Station where he made a statement.

Johnson Williams has been charged to court for the offense of larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

Personnel, whose name withheld, working for Sierra Leone Correctional Services also stated that on Friday Johnson Williams while in prison stole loaves of bread belonging to one of their colleagues.
