The Sierra Leone Police at the Gendema Division made an arrest on Monday, 21st November 2023, apprehending Ibrahim Bangura from Kebbie Town for falsely presenting himself as a Police Inspector during his visit through Liberia.
Bangura, a resident of Kambia and currently unemployed, admitted to engaging in fraudulent activities.
The police officers keenly observed Bangura’s grammatical inconsistencies while using the Police diary, leading to his prompt apprehension.
The suspect is now in custody at the Regional Criminal Investigations Department, undergoing further questioning.
AIG Brima Kanneh, the Regional Police Commander South, emphasized the continuous efforts to combat crime, ensuring the safety and freedom of the citizens in the region.
AIG Kanneh reassured the public of maintaining peace and tranquility, stating that Ibrahim Bangura will face the full consequences of impersonation under the law.
The suspect himself admitted to his fraudulent actions, taking full responsibility for his deeds.
