A 37-year-old man, Austin Jusu, popularly known as “Hero,” has reportedly been remanded in custody for allegedly obtaining Le100,000 by false pretenses after promising to supply PVC windows and doors.

Jusu made his first court appearance on Wednesday, 21 January 2026, before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1, where he was charged with obtaining money by false pretenses, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, between 30 September and 31 December 2023 in Freetown, the accused allegedly obtained the sum of Le100,000 from Abubakarr Mohamed Jabbie by falsely claiming that he would supply PVC windows and doors. The prosecution alleges that Jusu made the promise knowing it to be untrue.

When the charge was read and explained to him, the accused did not enter a plea, as the court is currently conducting a preliminary investigation to determine whether he has a case to answer before the High Court. Prosecutor Inspector Mabel M. Tarawally tendered and served the relevant documents on the accused in support of the prosecution’s case.

Magistrate Jah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offence, and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter has been adjourned to 26 January 2026 for further hearing.
