Following investigations by Sierra Leone Police, a Nigerian National has been remanded in police cuts for unlawful possession of harmful drugs, involving cocaine and kush.
Chris Emmanuel, the accused was remanded in prison by Magistrate Mark Ngegba at Pademba road court No1 on Wednesday 15th November 2023.
He was arraigned on three counts charges of Unlawful Possession of class A drugs, namely cocaine and kush , contrary to section 17 of the pharmacy and drug Act 2001.
Police alleged that on count one, the accused Chris Emmanuel on Friday 13th October 2023 at Baoma Goderich in the Western Area was found in possession of class A drugs, to wit quantity of Methamphetamine, which is a controlled drugs weighting 60.50 grams without lawful authority.
The police further alleged on count two that the accused on the same date and place was found on possession of five tablets of heroin, which is a controlled drugs without lawful authority, adding that on Count 3 the accused on the same date and place was found in possession of a plastic tie of Kush, weighing 15.8 grams without lawful authority.
The accused did not take any plea when the charges were read and explained to him in court.
Defense Counsel Y KT Mansaray applied for bail on behalf of his client pursuant to section 79 of the criminal procedure Act No32 of 1965 but Magistrate Ngegba denied him bail and adjourned the matter to the 22nd November 2023.
